The following items are not permitted on the course: Dogs or any pets, skateboards, bicycles, roller blades, baby joggers, and any other type of vehicle (other than official Marathon vehicles). Participants unable to keep up with a continuous pace of 16:00 minutes per mile may be redirected as the course closes to allow regular vehicular traffic to resume. There is a 7-hour time limit for the Marathon. The Official Starter is non-other than East Bay native and ’21 NFL Pro Bowler Najee Harris, the event’s Oakland Community Kick-Starter grantee with his Da’ Bigger Picture Foundation ( press release). Your Start Line announcer is the voice of Laney College and Stanford Athletics, James Rockefeller.
The National Anthem will take place at approximately 6:50am and sung by Oakland School of the Arts’ Jordyn Diaw.
Signs will be posted in 1-minute pace increments from 5-minute per mile pace up to 14+ minutes per mile.
When at the starting line, please position yourself near the sign closest to your expected finish time.
